Psy entered the world on December 31, 1977. He was given the name Park Jae-Sang at birth. He came from a wealthy family and was born in the Gangnam District of Seoul, which is located in South Korea. The DI Corporation is chaired by his father, Park Won-Ho, who also works there. Kim Young-Hee, his mother, owns and operates a restaurant.

When Park arrived in the United States and started attending courses there, he discovered that he was no longer interested in studying business administration as he had expected at Boston University.
