All Railway Recruitment Boards will soon organize the Computer Based Written Test for all applicants of Technician and ALP Posts. All applicants have submitted their application forms for Technician III and ALP Posts via online mode till March 2023. It is expected that the Stage 1 Exam will be conducted in April or May 2023.
So, all applicants should prepare for the Computer Based Test as the selection for the RRB Technician posts will be done through Computer Based Test Stage 1 and after that, qualified candidates will be called for the Computer-Based Test for Stage 2. Final Selection will be done on merit basis in the Second Stage Test.

As we all know that the Indian Railways board has released Recruitment notification for more than candidates on ALP and Technician Grade III posts. Railway Technician Syllabus 2023 Download
First of all, we want to tell you about the selection procedure for the Technician Posts. All applicants will be called for the First Stage Computer Based Test. After that, qualified candidates will be called for the second stage Computer Based Test. In the Second Stage, there will be two parts i.e. Part A and Part B (Trade Test).
Soon, the Indian Railways will announce the Exam Date for Technician posts and all applicants will be informed about this through the official website of Indian Railways and all RRBs. Now, we are telling you about the RRB Technician Syllabus and Exam Pattern in detail.
Detail of RRB Technician Computer Based Test Pattern 2023
RRB will organize the two stages of the Exam. Both the exams will be organized in Computer Based Mode. First Stage Computer Based Test is common for both the posts i.e. ALP and Technician III. First Stage Test will be of Screening Nature and Minimum Passing Criteria for Stage 1 for different categories is given below:

RRB Technician Stage 1 Exam Pattern 2023
In Stage 1, Objective Type MCQs will be asked. A total of 75 Questions for 75 marks will be asked and you will get only 60 minutes to answer these questions. Questions will be asked from the following topics:

RRB Technician Syllabus 2023 Download for First Stage CBT
Stage 1 Computer Based Test is common for ALP and Technician Posts. Questions will be asked from four subjects. Detail of each subject is given below:
RRB Technician Syllabus 2023 – Mathematics
It is not specified by the RRB the exact numbers of questions from the mathematics portion will be asked in the exam. But as per the assumptions and old year’s paper, it seems that 20-22 questions may be asked from Mathematics in RRB Technician CBT Stage 1 exam.

- Type of Questions: Questions may be asked from BODMAS, Fractions, Approximate Values, Percentage etc.
- Coordinate Geometry
- No. of Questions: 3-4 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: This section is important as per the marks. Candidates can score from this section. Topics will be as followed- Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts, lines, Triangle and its various kinds of centers.
- Mensuration
- No. of Questions: 2-3 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Question: Easy questions may be asked from this topic. Questions will be based on the following topics-Triangle, Trapezium, Circle, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Hemispheres, Sphere, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base.
- Arithmetic’s
- No. of Questions: 3-4 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: Topics from Arithmetic’s subject can be Matrices, Progression, Logarithmic, Integration, Limit
- Number Series
- No. of Questions: 2-3 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: Simple questions may be asked based on the following- Find the Missing Term, Find the Wrong Term, Problems on Completing the Series.
- Trigonometry
- No. of Questions: 2-3 Questions (Approximately)
- Types of Questions: Questions level may be high and time-consuming. Trigonometric ratios, Trigonometry, Complementary angles, Height, and distances may be the topics of questions.
- Probability
- No. of Questions: 2-3 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: Easy questions on probability.
- Algebra
- No. of Questions: 1-2 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: difficult and trick questions may be asked from these given topics- Elementary Surds, Quadratic Equations, Basic Algebraic Identities, Polynomials, Linear Equations in One and Two or more Variables.
- Ratio and Proportion
- No. of Questions: 1-2 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: Simple questions on Ration and Proportions will be asked from this topics. The topics will be as follows – Mean Proportional, Simple Ratios, Componendo or Dividendo, Direct or Indirect Proportion.
- Speed, Time and distance
- No. of Questions: 1-2 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: Less time taking and easy questions on Average Speed, Relative Speed, Problems on Trains may be asked in the exam.
- Number System
- No. of Questions: 1-2 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: The topics of questions may be as follows- Multiples & Factors, Divisibility & Remainder, Integers, LCM & HCF.
- Profit and Loss
- No. of Questions: 0-1 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: Simple questions on Profit and Loss, Partnerships, Discount & MP.
- Time and Work
- No. of Questions: 0-2 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Question: Less difficult questions on- Work & Wages, Work efficiency, Pipes & Cisterns etc.
- Interest
- No. of Questions: 0-1 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: Very less chance of questions to be asked on this topic. If asked then it will be based on Simple Interest.
- Percentages
- No. of Questions: 0-2 Questions (Approximately)
- Type of Questions: Difficult question may be asked on Calculation-oriented basic percentage.
- Averages

- Type of Questions: This topic may be time-consuming if the candidate is not aware of the basic formulas. Topics will be the following- Height, Average Weight, Age, Marks, Average Money Average Temperature, Expenditure etc.
Railway Technician Syllabus 2023- General Science
General Science is important subjects as per the aspects of RRB Technician CBT Stage 1 Exam. From this subject, 19-21 questions may be asked. The questions will be asked to test knowledge of candidates about everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect.

Questions from General awareness section will be asked to test the general awareness of candidates about the environment. As per the assumptions, 18 to 21 questions will be asked on this subject.

- Type of Questions: Candidates do not need to waste much time on this topic during the preparations. Only a single question can be asked about arranging by rank, age, order, floor in row etc.
RRB Technician Syllabus for Second Stage CBT 2023
Candidates, qualified in Stage 1 CBT will be eligible for the second stage of Technician III Posts. The total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the second stage shall be 15 times the zone wise total posts of Technician in all RRBs.

Railway Technician Syllabus 2023 for Stage 2 Part A
The syllabus for Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness will be same as the Stage 1 Syllabus mentioned above. The syllabus for Basic Science and Engineering will cover the following topics:

RRB Technician Syllabus 2023 for Stage 2 Part B
In Part B for RRB Technician Posts, which is a Trade Test, total 75 questions will be asked from the Trade you have selected. The time limit to complete the exam will be 60 minutes. Qualifying marks will be 35% for all category candidates. Trade Syllabus for Technician post is prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET). The Trade Syllabus can be obtained from the DGET website.
Candidates qualified for the Second Stage will be called for Document Verification and Medical Test.
